Group Technical and R&D Manager
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Technical Manager to lead and co-ordinate the Technical and Quality functions across the Monocon Group of companies. Monocon Group of Companies, being subsidiary of the IFGL Group, has had significant growth in recent years in the supply of specialised Refractory and Ceramics products and services to the steel and foundry industries.
Working in a multi cultural environment the role will involve:
• Managing and developing the UK technical function
• Provide technical leadership and compliance for Monocons subsidiary manufacturing sites worldwide
• Providing technical leadership for R&D and be actively involved in business development
• Managing quality control and assurance systems across Monocons subsidiary manufacturing sites worldwide
• Sourcing cost effective alternative raw materials & formulations
• Providing technical support for Sales & Marketing functions
• Providing support to Manufacturing Management with regards to operational and process improvements
• Update and review product costings and BOM’s
• Developing strong relationships with the parent company, major suppliers and customers
Successful candidate will ideally have a degree or similar in an appropriate science discipline such as Materials Science or Ceramics and have industry experience within refractories and/or minerals. Experience in tundish lining/gunning and castable materials would be a distinct advantage. Links with Universities and other research organisations would also be desireable.
